About Yoga with Sally

Yoga with Sally was created in 2018 by Sally Eccleston, who is a qualified yoga teacher and educational psychologist currently based in Manchester, England. Sally has background and training in yoga, mindfulness, educational psychology and doctoral research, and has been working with children and young people in academic settings since 2011. Sally decided to complete a Foundation Level Yoga Teacher Training Course in Thailand in 2016 after beginning her own personal practice in 2012. This was followed by two Yoga Teacher Training Courses for Children.

Having experienced at first hand the difference which yoga and mindfulness practices can make to mental health and wellbeing, Sally offers a variety of tools and techniques in a bespoke and creative way during sessions which are delivered in homes, yoga studios and schools. Sally has an intricate understanding of school systems and can deliver training to staff and support for parents as well as yoga as a therapeutic intervention.

Yoga with Sally is driven by a passion and purpose to share the practices of yoga and mindfulness with people of all ages, from tiny toddlers to those in their senior years, and to help groups and families to connect through the nourishing and transformative ways of being that yoga can bring about.

Peeling back the layers

As is true for many people, Sally’s yoga practice began solely at the physical level to compliment cardio-based training. She soon realised that there was more to yoga than the postures themselves, and began to delve deeper. With an understanding of yoga philosophy, Sally appreciates yoga as a journey of self-inquiry in order to strip back the layers of ourselves in order to learn what our bodies, minds and spirits need, and to help us feel good. She regularly draws on the eight limbs of yoga in order to offer a fuller understanding of the practice.

Connecting through play and relaxation

Sally offers a fun, adaptable and calming practice which is open to all. With her broad and extensive range of experiences of working with families, children and young people in different settings, she plans sessions which allow everyone to pause, slow down, and restore body and mind as well as move in a way which is playful and accessible.

Sally now uses her unique set of combined skills to work therapeutically with schools, families, adults, and individual children and young people aged 2-18. She incorporates the different elements of her experience, skills, knowledge and personal practice in yoga, mindfulness, meditation and psychology in order to create a balanced and appropriate service to all ages, groups and individuals. She designs and delivers courses and sessions drawing on her broad experiences and the knowledge which she has accumulated over her professional career.
